The past couple of years have made it a little more challenging to connect with fellow homeschool families but podcasts are having their moment and are making it easier than ever for parents to get encouragement, inspiration and the occasional sanity check when needed. You know what we mean!

There are a ton of great ones out there, but here are a few to subscribe to if you’re just getting started with homeschool-themed podcasts. Busy parents will appreciate how easy it is to play these in the background of daily life.

Homeschool Unrefined: Two Minnesota moms have shared 20 years of friendship and are now on the homeschooling journey together. They launched the podcast to share the ups, downs and everything in between with their audience, who are made to feel more like friends while listening to their fun and casual conversations.

Raising Lifelong Learners: Host Colleen is a gifted intervention specialist and author who understands that kids are all wired differently. Each episode tackles different topics that impact the academic lives of gifted and twice-exceptional learners, offering advice, support and invaluable insight.

Homeschool with Moxie: Former teacher and current homeschool mom Abby has a message for parents trying to get into the swing of homeschooling: you can do it. Through her own experience and insight from guests, she offers advice on everything from homeschooling when you’re sick to decluttering the homeschool space, and everything along the way.

Empowering Home School Conversations: For parents who need a boost of confidence in homeschool, this podcast arms families with the facts needed to tackle the many complexities that can arise. Each week they have conversations with expert guests on a variety of topics like public funding programs, supporting developmentally delayed teens and how to teach self-advocacy.

The Homeschool Sisters: Sisters Cait and Kara get real about homeschooling in this blog that tackles all of the questions homeschooling families need to know but probably aren’t sure they need to ask, such as “how much does homeschooling cost?”, what materials do I need to homeschool?”, “what if my kids are resistant to homeschool” and more.

The Homeschool Sanity Show: A psychologist-turned homeschool mom of six brings a bit of sanity to the wild ride that is homeschooling with topics that are timely and relevant to life in and out of school hours. Recent topics include studying history on location, preventing sibling rivalry and incorporating fitness into your curriculum.

Off-trail Learning: As you may know, homeschooling is anything but “in the box” and often the most learning happens off of the traditional path. That’s exactly why the founders of Unschool Adventures launched this podcast that celebrates alternative schooling and innovative approaches to learning.

Cultivating Grace: Mom and homeschool teacher Lara knows that homeschool comes with challenges, but that there is plenty of joy and love to be found along the way. Recent topics include loop scheduling for homeschool, inspiring reading with living stories and making the most of homeschool mornings.

While these are a great place to start, this list barely scratches the surface. There is truly something for every learning style and family out there in podcast land. Wherever you listen to yours, start searching and see what you discover. Ready, set, listen!
