Choosing a health insurance plan and enrolling in it can often be very confusing. Nevertheless, making a thoughtful decision and picking the best health plan for your situation is important for you and your family. All medical insurance carriers underwrite group Medical Plans to evaluate risk amongst all participants in such a group. Once underwriting has been achieved for the entire group of employees, a master composite rate/premium is given to the employer for their employees based on plan design and several participants to be covered with each family. Furthermore, once underwriting has completed their evaluation of risk, no further underwriting is required for new members until next year’s annual renewal. This means rates can no longer be adjusted or altered for current employees and/or incoming employees based on age or health status. Group Medical Programs have NO pre-existing condition clauses.

Individual Insurance Plans can be purchased through our Association. As our Association continues to grow and prosper, insurance products’ options will continue to grow and become vast in the number of options we will be able to offer.

Telemedicine

In the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers and tutors have discovered that technology has the answer to how to reach their students. As technology has developed, so has people’s ability to overcome the traditional communication barriers of time and distance.

But teachers aren’t the only careers that benefit from virtual spaces. The practice of telemedicine is a step forward in the healthcare industry to use telecommunication to bridge the gap of time, distance and affordability to reach patients in need of medical attention.

Telemedicine uses technology to facilitate communication, whether real-time or delayed, between a doctor and patient who are not in the same physical location for the purpose of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Advances in telecommunication allow the exchange of medical information from one site to another to serve patients in a clinical setting.

Vision

Many times, optometrists can detect conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol before your employee or his or her primary care doctor is even aware of any such concerns. Furthermore, ocular diseases can be quite damaging to the practice of a teaching business and expensive if not caught in time.

Vision insurance plans are designed to provide routine preventive care, such as eye exams, eyewear, and other vision services at a reduced rate.

The Association has provided the opportunity to purchase a comprehensive Vision Plan you should review. Services can be rendered by any Vision Professional who is licensed to perform the services.

Dental

Dental insurance may seem unnecessary, especially if you live on a teacher’s salary and are trying to manage your income wisely, but dental surgery and repairs can be costly. Don’t get caught off-guard with a massive health problem in your mouth that stems from a lack of maintenance. Preventative care and maintenance can save you time and money in the long run.

The Association has provided the opportunity to purchase a comprehensive Dental Plan you should review. Services can be rendered by any Dental Professional who is licensed to perform the services. The Plan contains three service categories: Preventive, Basic, and Major Services. This Plan does not include a missing tooth clause.
